Rich dike (Structure Vision Eemsmond-Delfzijl)

This file contains the ‘rich dike’, as established in the Structure Vision Eemsmond-Delfzijl. Rijk Dijk is a collaborative project of Deltares, Rijkswaterstaat (including WINN), TU Delft and Port of Rotterdam Authority and stems from the national Delta Programme. The Rijke Dijk project contributes to the improvement of ecology in the Eems-Dollard estuary. De Rijke Dijk is committed to the realisation of a pile forest to stimulate the growth of a mussel bank, the removal of stretch dams for the purpose of high water refuges for birds and the construction of tidal pools at the foot of the dike. The project aims to improve the ecological value of the dike between the Eemshaven and Delfzijl by creating additional habitat for various animal and plant species.
