This table shows the business balance sheet (possessions and debts) and income statement (charges and income) of the savings banks.
Savings banks, as a special form of life insurance, are subject to legal supervision. From 1922 to 1993, this supervision was governed by the Act on Life Insurance (WOL), from 1993 to 2007 in the Insurance Business Supervision Act (WTV). The Financial Supervision Act (WFT) has been in force since 2007.
The supervision was carried out successively by the Insurance Chamber (UK), the Pension and Insurance Chamber (PVK) and De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB).
Amendment of laws and supervisors leads to changes in the reporting to supervisors. In 1995, the changes were so large that this would lead to a break in the figures.
