This publication contains information on the number of ships arriving and departed and the cargo carried in international maritime trade. The data from Dutch seaports are mapped out according to the direction of transport, by origin and destination and by the nature of the cargo.
The composition of the EU has changed several times over the years. Therefore, in order to properly assess older data, a separate grouping was created for each composition (EU-15, EU-25 and EU-27).
In addition, a separate category has been added with countries from the shortsea area. These are the seaports located in Europe and seaports along the coastline of the inland seas adjacent to Europe, namely the Mediterranean Sea, the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea.
