The Incoming Tourism Statistics (SIT) provides insight into the
activities, motives, length of stay and expenses of foreign
tourists in the Netherlands. The previous investigation was conducted in 1999.
For the current study, the observation took place in the period
from week 12-2 005 to week 11-2006.
The research focuses on foreign tourists with at least one
overnight stay in a Dutch accommodation. Because of this
fall down day tourists and tourists staying with family or friends
outside the target population. People who spend more than 60 nights in one
accommodation stays are also not included in the target population
that’s all right. In the SIT, not only are holidaymakers to the tourists
counting but also business travelers. The target population therefore consists of all
foreign guests in Dutch accommodation.
The SIT is based on a partnership between the Dutch
Bureau of Tourism and Congresses (NBTC) as client,
Blue Research (survey ring) and CBS (advisory questionnaire,
sampling, processing and raising).
