Students and students; type of education, residential region

This table shows the number of pupils and students in secondary education (vo), secondary vocational education (mbo), secondary general adult education (vavo) and higher education (ho) by type of education, educational level, migration background, age and region of residence on 1 October of a relevant school/study year. Data available for: — secondary education: from 2003/'04; — secondary vocational education: from 2005/'06; — secondary general adult education: from 2006/07; — higher education: from 2000/‘01 (from 2015/’16 including Theological Universities and University of Humanistics). Status of the figures: The figures for the school/study years up to 2020/‘21 are final and those for the school/study year 2021/’22 are provisional. Changes as of 7 July 2022: The final figures for the school/study year 2020/“21 and the preliminary figures for the school/study year 2021/”22 have been added. When are new figures coming? In the third quarter of 2023, the preliminary figures for the school/study year 2021/“22 shall be replaced by final figures and the provisional figures for the school/study year 2022/”23 are added.
