This table provides information on the four-weekly development of the
turnover of supermarkets. Because of the financial reporting in the
supermarket industry is often based on periods of four weeks, there is
from that industry a lot of demand for data on developments about those
periods. That is why CBS publishes in addition to the monthly turnover development
also four-weekly figures.
Developments are expressed in indices (based on the year
1995 and 2000) and in rates of development (compared to the same
period of the year before). In addition to these development figures,
amounts of turnover indicated.
Data available from: 1998-2008
Status of the figures:
All figures are final.
Changes as of 29 May 2009:
This table stopped per week 49-52 of 2008. As of 2009, the statistical examination which forms the basis of the results in this table has undergone two major changes.
— First, the basis for the indices has been shifted from the year 2000 to 2008.
— Second, the CBS Standard Business Classification (SBI) has been revised drastically.
As a result, the figures from 2009 are no longer comparable to previous years.
Therefore, CBS releases a new table. For more information, see paragraphs 3 and 4.
