This table contains data on all people who have been arrested by the police as suspects of crimes and who also occur in the Municipal Basic Administration (GBA). Detained suspects whose personal data do not appear in the DPA are excluded from this table.
The table shows by population group in absolute and relative figures how many suspects of crime occur. The relative figures indicate how many people per 1,000 people of the selected population are suspected of committing a crime. The population groups can be selected by origin grouping, gender, age and foster career.
The data relate to suspects and not convicts. It is estimated that more than 90 % of the suspects are offered a transaction by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (OM) or are found guilty by the court at a later stage. The data on the suspects came from the police’s Recognition Service Systems (HKS).
Data is available from 1999.
Status of the figures:
The figures until 2008 are final. The figures for 2009 and 2010 are provisional. The HKS is updated annually with new and improved data. For example, persons who were found to be unjustly suspected will be removed from the HKS. In addition, registration delays are eliminated. 2009 is expected to change slightly. In fact, the number of suspects in 2010 will be higher than the number presented in the table.
When new figures become available:
This table was discontinued as of 11-2-2013.
