The dead; cause of death (4 main groups), region

This table contains figures on the deceased by underlying cause of death by region. The causes of death are divided into four main groups: novelties, diseases of heart and vascular system, diseases of respiratory system and external causes of death (non-natural causes of death). The figures are shown to the municipality of registration. The regions are composed of municipalities. In addition to municipalities, data are available from the following regions: province, part of the country and the whole of the Netherlands. In the 2013 statistical year, CBS switched to the use of international software for automatic encoding of causes of death. This makes the figures more reproducible and comparable internationally. However, there are some significant shifts in the causes of death. Data available from: 1996 Status of the figures: The figures until 2020 are final. The 2021 figures are provisional. Amendments as of 23 June 2022: The preliminary figures for 2021 have been added. When are new figures coming? The final figures for 2021 are sought to be published in the fourth quarter of 2022.
