Dataset description

This table shows the number of people who died as a result of murder or manslaughter that took place in the Netherlands. The victims can be both residents and non-residents. The data can be broken down by foster location, method of execution, age and gender. Criterion is the date of death, the foster date may be in the previous year. As of statistical year 2014, the breakdowns for both men and women by ‘age’ with ‘wise murder and manslaughter’ and with ‘foster location murder and manslaughter’ have been suppressed. Because of the small numbers and the distribution, this breakdown would lead to disclosure of individual information. The ICD-10 codes associated with murder and manslaughter are X85-Y09. In the statistical year 2013, CBS switched to the use of international software for automatic encoding of causes of death (Iris). This makes the figures more reproducible and comparable internationally. However, there are some significant shifts in the causes of death. However, external causes of death have been processed manually as before. Data available from 1996 to 2018 Status of the figures: All figures are final. Changes as of 29 July 2020: This table has been discontinued and is followed by ‘Deceased’; murder and manslaughter; foster location of the Netherlands’ (see paragraph 3). When are new figures coming? None, this table has been discontinued.
