Treatment of urban waste water; technical characteristics of installations

This table contains figures for urban or public sewage treatment plants under management at water or sewage boards. The table gives a census of the numbers and capacity of the urban waste water treatment plants, per treatment type, to the following selections: — applied method of phosphate removal. — applied method of nitrogen removal. — applied method of sludge stabilisation (fermentation/demineralisation). — applied method of sludge dewatering (the dimension method of sludge dewatering was extended in 2018 with a new item: Screw press). — type and management form of surface water discharged. Data available from: 1981. Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final. Changes as of 12 May 2022: The table is supplemented by figures for 2020. For the year 2019, data on design capacity in pollution units and design capacity in Residential Equivalents were exchanged by mistake, in all selections and purification types. In the current version, this has been corrected. When are new figures coming? The figures for 2021 will be published in March 2023.
