Dataset description

This file contains the wadden area as defined in the Environmental Regulation of the Province of Groningen 2016. In this Environment Regulation, we have included rules to protect this area. The Wadden area has great and internationally recognised ecological and landscape value. Since 2009, the Wadden Sea has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Groningen part of the Wadden region includes the Wadden Sea (including the islands), the Eems estuary and the Lauwersmeer.
