In this table you will find figures on the origin and destination of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. For the years 2002 to 2008, a breakdown was also made between waste products and waste residues. The table shows the waste streams of different wastes. The origin of the amount of waste from households, different business classes and imports is presented.
At the destination of waste, a distinction is made between treatment methods (reuse, incineration and landfill/freezing) and exports.
In addition, the waste accounts are very suitable for analyses of, for example, the cause of changes in waste indicators over time.
The table is part of the environmental accounts. The environmental accounts quantify the relationship between the economy and the environment. In order to achieve a consistent statistical description of this relationship, environmental accounts are aligned with the classifications and definitions of the national accounts. As a result, environmental figures from the environmental accounts deviate from the environmental figures elsewhere on CBS website in a number of cases.
Data available from: 1990 to 2010
The table was discontinued as of 21 July 2015. The reason for cessation is that the waste accounts were overhauled in 2015 because the quality of some source data was no longer sufficient. As a result, the distinction between waste product and waste residue has expired, as is the distinction between hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Also, at the level of detail, only data will be available from 2008. The table is followed by the Waste Balance Tables, type of waste by sector; national accounts and waste balance sheet; key figures. See paragraph 3.
Status of the figures:
The figures for the last two years have provisional status. As this table has been discontinued, these data will no longer be definitively made.
Changes as of 21 July 2015:
None, this table has been discontinued.
When are new figures coming?
