CBS collects data within the framework of environmental statistics
on the treatment of urban waste water and on the private sector
treatment of waste water of mainly industrial origin.
Urban or public waste water treatment is the treatment of
wastewater discharged to the sewer by households and companies.
Private waste water treatment involves companies and institutions
they have their own treatment plant.
In the treatment plants, from the discharged waste water
(influent) the impurities removed by mechanical means,
biological and/or physicochemical purification techniques. The purified
wastewater (effluent) is discharged to the surface water.
Wastewater treatment results in a residual product, the sewage sludge.
In sewage sludge from biological plants,
organic compounds are further decomposed (slib fermentation). With this
process releases biogas, which can be used for energy generation.
The sewage sludge is then stripped of the excess
water (dewatering). After that, the sludge may, depending on the quality,
are reused (for example, compost preparation) or become
eventually collapsed or burned.
This table shows the results of the annual survey
Wastewater treatment sludge from plants and institutions: the numbers and
design capacity of private waste water treatment plants
companies. In addition, the quantities and destination of the released
sewage sludge displayed.
Data available from: 1993-2007
Amendment as of 29 April 2010:
In this table, the data from the tables 'Wastewater treatment at
companies and institutions; installations“and”Wastewater treatment at
companies and institutions; sewage sludge combined. The results
are broken down by business class SBI'93.
The table has been discontinued due to the change in the business class classification
SBI'93 to SBI2008.
In 2007, new information led to 1 company with a
added waste water treatment plant giving the total number
installations have increased by 1. The total capacity for 2007 is not
modified because the added installation belongs to the type
mechanical installation and not intended for the disposal of
biodegradable substances.
For the years 1996-2005, some companies are characterised by the SBI
corrected. As a result of this shift, the figures on numbers
installations, capacity and quantities of sewage sludge for the category
“D industry” increased by up to 0.6 % for most years. For 2002
the difference is a few percent. The figures for the category
‘Other, no industry’ has decreased by up to 5 % as a result of the shift,
except 2002 where the decrease is 11 % for the number of installations and 30 %
for the amount of sewage sludge. For all the topics are the
national totals have not changed.
Status of the figures: the figures are final.
