This table refers to subjective well-being of individuals aged 20 years or older from private households, in terms of happiness and satisfaction with life. Breakdowns have been made by changes in marital status (unmarried, widowed, divorced, married/partnership) and by changes in labour market position (incapacity for work, unemployment or welfare benefits, employment and pensions). The percentages of happy and satisfied persons are shown for the total number of people, for different age groups and for men and women separately. These percentages are also available at different times before and after a change in marital status or labour market position. In this way, it can be investigated how people experience their well-being before or after they have experienced a change in marital status/labour market position.
Data available from 1998 to 2009, is an average over these years.
