This table contains data on the well-being of the population of the Netherlands aged 18 years or older in terms of happiness and satisfaction with life. These topics are broken down by various indicators of social
relationships and relationships, namely the frequency of contact with family, frequency of contact with friends, frequency of contact with neighbours, social trust, household composition and whether or not informal assistance is provided. In addition, it is broken down by the personal characteristics of gender, age and origin. The data comes from the
Permanent Research Live Situation (POLS, 2003-2009), the module Volunteering and Social Cohesion (V & S, 2010 old method), the research Social Cohesion and Welfare (2010 new method, 2012).

In 2010 there was a redesign of the study. As a result, the figures from that year onwards are no longer entirely comparable to figures from previous years. For reporting year 2010, figures are available both on the basis of the old method and on the basis of the new method. For more information on the new method of observation see paragraph 4.
