The ATC (Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical) system is an international classification system for pharmaceuticals. The ATC code provides information on the group of medicinal products and the active substance. The index is updated annually. In Norway, ATC codes are used in NorPD, Grossist-based drug statistics and the Norwegian Medicines Agency’s Prescription and Expedition Support (FEST). The index contains all current ATC codes and also includes many codes for drugs that are not used in Norway. English and Spanish version of the index can be ordered from the website www.whocc.no .
