Concession areas for extraction of shell sand, sand and gravel from the sea area

The county municipality is delegated licensing authority for applications for exploration and exploitation of shell sand, sand and gravel from the sea area. Shell sand concessions have a duration of up to 5 years, but can be extended by up to 5 years at a time. The county authorities have data on both active and expired concessions. Licence data provides information about the duration of the licence and the maximum permitted withdrawal. Licensing is governed by the Natural Resources Act (Continent Shelf Act) and associated guidelines.
