Cultural landscapes — selected

The dataset shows areas covered by the Selected cultural landscape in agriculture. This is a collaboration between agricultural, natural and cultural heritage management in Norway. The work is based on cooperation between landowners and drivers and the government. Selected cultural landscapes in agriculture are a collection of the most valuable cultural landscapes in Norway. The aim of the initiative is to ensure long-term management of a range of distinctive landscape areas with large biological and cultural historical values that are shaped by long-term and continuous traditional use. In the selection of the areas, the emphasis is that they shall to the greatest extent possible include cultural landscapes in agriculture with great values related to both biology/nature diversity and cultural history and that it should be realistic to achieve long-term operation, management and maintenance.
