The Geological Heritage dataset shows geological sites of particular value for teaching, research and/or dissemination (geosites). It contains data collected for various purposes over a long period of time, partly digitised by NGU from analogue data, partly collected in recent times. It includes both geolocations of large extent (landscape elements) and small localities.
The descriptions are collected at different times and with different methods and are therefore of varying quality. Value assessments presented have all been made in accordance with the methodology launched in the KU supervisor of the Norwegian Environment Agency 2020.
In map view, the data is accompanied by fact sheets with detailed descriptions of geolocations.
