Navigation installation

The Norwegian Coastal Administration administers a system of navigational guidance devices in Norway. This system consists of facilities operated by the Norwegian Coastal Administration, facilities operated by municipal ports and private facilities operated by others. Navigational guidance devices provide visual and electronic signals that have been facilitated to assist in the navigation process for careful seafarers. However, it is not intended to enable seafarers to identify any vessel or shallow or obstruction of maritime traffic found in Norwegian waters that are otherwise navigable for ships. On the other hand, the Norwegian Coastal Administration shall ensure a sensible labelling of the waters to the extent that the resources allow.
