Dataset description
The Ice Service at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute prepares high-resolution ice maps of the Norwegian part of the Arctic, and if necessary also for the Norwegian coast e.g. the Oslofjord. The maps show ice concentration and are based on a manual interpretation of various satellite data.It is mainly used weather independent Synthetic Aperture Radar data from Radarsat-2 and Envisat satellites. In addition to this data, visual and infrared data from MODIS and NOAA satellites are used.
