Dataset description
The standard is based on the International Standard Classification of Occupations 2008 — ISCO-08.
The structure is hierarchical and is divided into four digits:
1. digit = field of occupation, 2nd digit = occupational area, 3 rd digit = occupational group, 4th digit = occupation.
A profession is characterised by uniformity in work tasks, level of competence and specialisation.
The standard for occupational classification is intended for use in official Norwegian statistics and will also be an important tool in the field of employment and vocational training.
However, for the reporting of professions to the A scheme, one should use the Vocational Catalogue (7 digits).
