Farmers who release animals on land pastures can organise themselves in grazing communities and cooperate on supervision, gathering and other joint measures. The purpose is to facilitate a more rational utilisation of the outfield, as well as to reduce the loss of animals on grazing. The pastures may receive support for operation, and in the application for support, they must state the number of animals released and collected. The scheme has been in place since 1970. Figures from the period 1992-2012 are available here. In the long term, the Directorate of Agriculture wants to make available figures all the way back to 1970.
