Flomsoner viser arealer som oversvømmes ved ulike flomstørrelser (gjentaksintervall). Det blir utarbeidet flomsoner for 20-, 200- og 1000-årsflommene. I områder der klimaendringene gir en forventet økning i vannføringen på mer enn 20 %, utarbeides det flomsone for 200-årsflommen i år 2100.
