This spatial data set, produced by ICNF (Institute for Conservation of Nature and Forestry), corresponds to the 6th National Forest Inventory (IFN) and has been prepared to be made available as Linked Open Data (LOD) in RDF format, with aggregated information according to NUTSIII, including the ontologies generated, under the Cross-Forest project. The IFN is a statistical and cartographic process, which aims to evaluate the abundance, state and condition of national forest resources. In the IFN, the production of statistics is based on sampling processes, which are carried out in different stages that make up the overall Inventory task. In mainland Portugal, the IFN started in 1965 and, from that date, has been maintained permanently with a periodicity of approximately 10 years. The results are obtained on the basis of the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS), at NUTS-I level (Portugal Continental, Azores and Madeira), regionally (NUTS-II) and IFN 6, also at subregional level (NUTS -III) for the main indicators.
