Dataset description

The extinction of the Municipality of Oeiras in 1895 by the Government of the Regenerating Party lasted just over two years, having been repealed by King Carlos in the wake of the early general elections of 1897. On January 13, 1898, a Decree restores the Municipality of Oeiras. However, its restoration did not mean the recovery of the territory it administered at the time of its extinction, since the parish of Carcavelos eventually remained part of the Municipality of Cascais.
