Co-existence zones in the Urban area of the City Based on the Road Code the concept of “vulnerable users” was created: pedestrians and speeds, in particular children, elderly, pregnant, people with reduced mobility or persons with disabilities (Article 1), and the concept of “Coexistence Zone” is also defined: area of the public road specially designed for shared use by pedestrians and vehicles, where special traffic rules apply and flagged as such. (Article 1). Therefore drivers should especially moderate the speed when approaching the co-existence zones. (Article 25). The maximum speed in co-existence zones is 20 km/h for any category. (Article 27) In co-existence areas, the following rules must also and always be observed: (Article 78a): vulnerable users may use the entire width of the public road; B) It is permitted to play games on the public road; C) Drivers must not compromise the safety or convenience of other users of the public road, and must stop if necessary; vulnerable users shall refrain from acts which unnecessarily prevent or hinder the transit of vehicles; parking is prohibited, except in places where this is authorised by signalling; the driver leaving a co-existence zone shall give way to the other vehicles.
