Issuance of Cost Information

Monitor the volume of cost information issued in hospital institutions (in the areas of urgency and external consultation) in order to promote cost transparency and information sharing. The aim of this information is to make citizens aware of the national economic effort, thus fostering the most appropriate use of hospital care, in order to ensure the optimal and efficient use of available resources and to continue to guarantee the right to health protection, the realisation of which results in a joint responsibility of citizens, society and the State. The information on the Costs of Health Care is framed in the Program of the XIX Constitutional Government and, in addition, the set of recommendations that incorporate the initiatives proposed by the Technical Group for Hospital Reform (GTRH), created by Order No. 10601/2011 of August 16, which shows the importance of informing citizens of their rights. As such, it was determined that the institutions would now provide the information of costs incurred with all health services provided to the user, borne by the State, according to the SNS’s price list. The information of costs incurred available assumes a purely informative nature, being duly explained to the user that it does not imply any additional payment. **Observations:** The values of the Hospital and University Center of Coimbra, EPE contains the sum of the cost information issued at all centers of the Hospital Center (with and without SHOW system).
