Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polychlorinated terphenyls (PCTs), generically called PCBs, they are chemicals that until the mid-1970s had a vast and diversified application, in particular in dielectric oils from transformers, capacitors and other electrical equipment, date from which they became subject to special attention to their pollution potential, which resulted in tight restrictions on its marketing and use.
