This report constitutes an official document prepared by Portugal in order to comply with the obligations arising from the implementation of Directive 2004/35/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 April 2004 approving on the basis of the polluter pays principle the environmental liability regime applicable to the prevention and remedying of environmental damage (RA Directive), as amended by Directive 2006/21/EC of 15 March 2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the extractive industry and by Directive 2009/31/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2006 providing a general framework for the geological storage activity of CO2.
