Servitude and Restriction of Public Utility (SRUP) — Marcos Geodesicos, in force in mainland Portugal.
The National Geodesic Network is composed of a set of coordinated points — Geodesic Vertices — that enable spatial referencing. Geodesic Vertices, traditionally referred to as Marcos Geodesicos, are intended to mark key points for cartography and topographic survey support and should be protected in order to ensure their visibility.
The constitution of servitudes and restrictions of public utility related to geodesic and cadastral signage — vertices or geodesic landmarks — follows the regime provided for in the law. Servitude is instituted from the construction of the Geodesic Marks.
Geodetic landmarks have specific protection zones on a case-by-case basis, depending on the visibility that must be ensured to the built signal and between the various signals. The extension of the protection zone shall have at least a radius of 15 metres.
The entity superintending in all matters relating to this servitude is the Directorate-General for Territory (DGT).
The geographical information provided through the respective web services was produced by the DGT, from information legally deposited in the National Territorial Information System (SNIT) concerning the delimitation of servitude of the Geodesic Marks.
