SRUP — Prison Establishments and Guardianships of Minors

Servitude and Restriction of Public Utility (SRUP) — Prison Establishments and Careers of Minors, in force in Mainland Portugal. The Prisons and Guardianships of Minors constitute a servitude and restriction of public utility, being inserted within the scope of Equipment. For security reasons, Prisons and Minor Guardianships shall have a protective zone around the buildings and free land attached to them, when existing. The constitution of servitudes relating to prisons and child guardianships follows the rules laid down in the law. Prisons and guardian establishments of minors (including buildings and land directly linked to the realisation of their purposes), as well as land intended for their construction, benefit from a protection area of 50 m wide, counted from the limit line of those establishments or land. Exceptionally, the protection zone may have different limits whenever concrete circumstances justify it, being fixed by order of the Minister of Justice, upon a proposal submitted by the public body responsible for Prison Services. Servitude shall take effect from the immediate day of publication in the Diário da República of the order of the Minister of Justice that identifies the protected area and the protection zone and defines the respective limits. This publication was waived in the case of establishments already built or under construction on the date of entry into force of the regime establishing the establishment of services relating to Prisons and Guardianships of Minors. The geographical information provided through the respective web services was produced by the DGT and other official entities, from information legally deposited in the National Territorial Information System (SNIT) concerning the delimitation of the servitude of Prisons and Guardians of Minors.
