Servitude and Restriction of Public Utility (SRUP) — Subterranean Water Captures for Public Supply, in force in mainland Portugal.
Underground Water Captures for Public Supply are a servitude and restriction of public utility. Servitude is constituted by the publication of the legislation approving the delimitation of the perimeters of protection of groundwater abstractions intended for public supply, identifying the facilities and activities that are subject to prohibitions or conditioning, defining the type of conditioning.
The perimeter of protection covers the area bordering or contiguous to water abstraction, the use of which is conditioned, in order to safeguard the quality of the underground water resources used.
The territorially competent Hydrographic Region Administration (HRA) is the entity that oversees all issues related to this servitude.
The geographical information provided through the respective web services was produced by the DGT and other official entities, from information legally deposited in the National Territorial Information System (SNIT) concerning the delimitation of the Subterranean Water Captures for Public Supply.
