Elaboration of strategic and operational communication plan with local communities in planning a low- and medium-level waste repository

The purpose of the research was to develop a principled communication strategy in locating and arranging a permanent low- and medium-level waste landfill and a concrete operational plan for communication with affected local communities. The research was based on theoretical insights about the attitude towards risk technologies in high-modern societies and from practical experience with the current regulation of this issue in Slovenia. The result was an overview of key principles for interactive communication with local communities. On this basis, a concrete operational plan has been drawn up to communicate with local communities in the relocation of radioactive works and in the arrangement of a permanent repository.
