The geographical grid is a system of hierarchical cells of 100 m, 200 m, 500 m, 1 000 m, 2 500 m, 5 000 m and 10 000 m, intended primarily for the dissemination of statistics. Cells are defined in both the D48/GK and the D96/TM coordinate system. To determine the location of individual cells, a starting point is also defined, which can simplify the naming of individual cells when correctly selected.
The nomenclature of cells is consistent across the whole system of hierarchical cells.
The geographical coordinate grid collection contains 7 grids with different cell sizes. The cells are square in shape and have the following side sizes: 100 m, 200 m, 500 m, 1 000 m, 2 500 m, 5 000 m and 10 000 m.
