Geographical perspectives on the knowledge society, 2012

Research on the knowledge society, regional innovation systems and their contribution to economic growth is well established in scientific literature. The survey is based on a geographical analysis of the correlation between technological developments, competitiveness factors and economic impacts. It stems from the assumption that economic efficiency in the province stems from the quality of human capital, where innovation is a prerequisite for social progress, competitiveness and development success. At the forefront of research interests is the geographical distribution of development generators, which are often the cause of regional inequalities. The purpose of the project is to study the spatial distribution of the knowledge society in Slovenia on the basis of technical-technological, economic-geographical and regional geographical indicators.
