Second modernisation of the Jesenice High Schools

Students of the Jesenice Gymnasium originate from Jesenice and its surroundings, whose socio-economic development in the past was mainly defined by the development of Jesenice Ironworks. In the last ten years, the area has been faced with a difficult iron crisis, high unemployment. The values of young people are spread between the value system of traditional industrial society and the decaying iron industry on the one hand, and the impact of post-industrial modernisation of the wider environment on the other. The aim of the research paper was to study the responses of high school pupils of Jesenice High School, who in 2001 are finishing school in high school, to social and living conditions from the point of view of their personal value system. The authors were particularly interested in how much the processes of the second modernisation had already reached the Jesenice High Schools.
