National surveying points are connected into geodetic networks and as such provide a reference basis or a geodetic date. A new spatial coordinate system is established in the territory of the Republic of Slovenia by means of the national surveying points connected to the geodetic network and the surveying and processing of measurements to determine the data (coordinates) on the national geodetic points and their connection to the European coordinate system. The status of a state surveying point is obtained by a surveying point, which is materialised, means placed in nature (physical layout) stabilised by a permanent sign and by certain spatial coordinates in the national spatial coordinate system. High accuracy, accuracy and reliability are required to determine the coordinates of these points.
State surveying points therefore serve to establish (materialisation) the Slovenian national spatial coordinate system in physical space and at the same time to connect with the European coordinate system — the ESRS. At the same time, they are also reference points for the control of the state (change of position at the time) of the national coordinate system and for the determination of transformation models and parameters for the transformation of spatial data coordinates between the old and the new national spatial coordinate system.
