According to the definition of the Water Directive, the Water Body of the Underground Water (VTPodV), or the simplified ‘body of groundwater’, is a distinct volume of groundwater in an aquifer or several aquifers. The determination of groundwater bodies was carried out in accordance with the Rules on Methodology for the determination of bodies of groundwater adopted in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia under Nos 65/2003 and 63/2005. The map of groundwater bodies represents 21 typical groundwater bodies at the national level in Slovenia, which belongs to two water zones (Danube and Adriatic rivers). The map also includes 168 aquifer systems that build a groundwater body at the state level. In the area under consideration, the boundaries of water bodies have been adjusted to a criterion of 1:25 000.
