Flood risk areas are determined primarily on the basis of a flood warning map, which is a priority for areas where there may be a higher risk. Site identification shall be carried out using modelling and analysis methods which must correspond to the recognised state of science based on hydrological, geological, geomorphological, geodetic, land use and cover data. The choice of methods must correspond to the actual situation of the site and the expected accuracy of the results.
Plot spatial objects represent the ranges of:
— flooding areas at Q500 flow,
— flooding areas at Q100 flow
— flooding areas at Q10 flow.
— hydraulic treatment areas where the results of the hydrological-hydraulic flood hazard analysis (OVR) are valid. Individual hydrological-hydraulic studies shall have certain areas of hydraulic treatment and the validity ranges of the results of the hydraulic model. In two or more overlapping areas of the validity of the results, the areas are grouped into one common range of validity of the results.
The basic purpose of the coverage is to provide a more detailed picture of flood conditions in a given area and to provide an expert basis for classifying flooding areas into flood hazard classes. The data are also intended for planning flood risk reduction measures, planning spatial planning and spatial interventions, informing and raising public awareness, planning protection and relief measures and implementing international obligations.
