Fulfilment of the obligation referred to in Article 5 of the Decree on Special Protection Areas (Natura 2000 sites) and publicity of NATURA 2000 sites. The data set is part of the inventory of areas of importance for the conservation of biodiversity.Natura 2000 is a European network of special protection areas proclaimed in the Member States of the European Union with the primary objective of preserving biodiversity for future generations. Special protection areas are therefore intended to conserve animal and plant species and habitats which are rare or endangered at European level by human activity. The data set is official data for existing NATURA 2000 sites, which were adopted by the Decree on Special Protection Areas (Natura 2000 areas) (UL RS Nos 49/04, 110/04, 59/07, 43/08, 8/12, 33/13, 35/13 — corr., 39/13 — Constitutional Court Decision). The data set shows NATURA 2000 sites designated under the Birds Directive (Council Directive 79/409/EEC of 2 April 1979 on the conservation of wild birds) — SPA sites, and the Habitats Directive (Council Directive 92/43/EEC of 21 May 1992 on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora) — pSCI/SAC sites.
