La aceleración sísmica de cálculo, ac, se define como el producto: ac = S · ρ · ab donde: ab: Aceleración sísmica básica. ρ: Coeficiente adimensional de riesgo, función de la probabilidad aceptable de que se exceda ac en el período de vida para el que se proyecta la construcción. Toma el valor ρ=1,0 para construcciones de importancia normal, y ρ=1,3 para construcciones de importancia especial. S: Coeficiente de amplificación del terreno. Depende del coeficiente del terreno, C y del coeficiente adimensional de riesgo, ρ.
