El sistema integral de seguimiento y evaluación de la sequía, operativo desde septiembre de 2016, emplea una metodología que tiene en cuenta de manera integrada y conjunta no sólo la cantidad de precipitaciones registradas por las estaciones meteorológicas, sino sus repercusiones en el medio natural y en los cultivos agrícolas, que captan los sensores instalados en los satélites.
