The ROI is made up of almost 11,000 geodetic vertices on the Spanish mainland and the Balearic Islands (density of one vertex per 45 km2) and was mainly observed during the 80s and 90s using triangulation and the horizon return method, making partial compensations by provinces as the observation work progressed.
