INSPIRE node of the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia. Ministry of Economics, Finance and Public Administration. Junta de Andalucia. WFS-INSPIRE service of the Geographical Nomenclator of Andalusia integrated into the Spatial Data Infrastructure of Andalusia following the guidelines of the Statistical and Cartographic System of Andalusia (SECA). The Geographical Nomenclator of Andalusia (NGA) is a project of the IECA initiated in 2004 with the Toponyms Database 1:10.000 (BTA10), which currently contains about 140,500 place names and geographical identifiers thematically classified in administrative areas, population entities, hydrography, orography, heritage, infrastructure, industrial activities, extractives, services and equipment. These place names have been georeferenced with a point geometry, which can be consulted through different reference systems. Its source is the toponymy included in the Topographic Map of Andalusia 1:10.000 (Digital Vectorial v1:1998-2003), basic cartography of the Autonomous Community, to which other sources are being incorporated to complete or normalise the toponymy of certain types of entity. The data model, based on the Spanish Nomenclator Model v1.2 recommended by the IDEE Working Group, has been adapted in 2012 to INSPIRE regulations and specifications on geographical names. The NGA is a dynamic registry in continuous updating made available to the CEAS and society through several synchronised public and free web services: the Geographic Name Finder and the Interoperable Services of WFS and WFS-INSPIRE nomenclator. Its purpose is to serve as a standardised reference of the toponymy of Andalusia.
