Estimated forest productivity in 1992. The data is provided in PDF and SHP (7Z file).
Potential forest productivity can be defined as the maximum timber production that could be obtained from a forest, using the highest growing species and compatible with the stability of the environment. This maximum production is determined exclusively by ecological factors, being independent of human action on the forest mass, which ultimately determines real productivity. Thus, in masses regenerated naturally and without intensive cultural care (waters, amendments, fertilisers...), timber production will have a maximum limit that will be a function of the components of the abiotic environment, mainly climate and soil, and which will only be achieved through adequate technical management.
