An orthophotomapa is an image of the territory taken from an airplane with a photogrammetric camera that has been treated in such a way that it can be measured on it, that is, it is a real scale image of the terrain.
The different series of orthophotomapa (1:5,000, 1:10.000 and 1:25,000) refer to the scale of representation, that is to say, the “zoom” with which the image is seen or the distance at which the terrain is observed. Thus, in an orotofomapa on a 1:5,000 scale, the Osasuna stadium occupies about 5 square centimeters, and at 25,000, 0'2 square centimeters.
The Department of Development has orthophotomapas from all over Navarre on these scales (1:5,000, 1:10.000 and 1:25,000). This information is updated every two years, since half of Navarre is annually flown and ortorrectified. Orthophotography 1:1,000 is not carried out for the entire territory, but is executed only in the urban centers in which the cartography is updated for the drafting of its General Urban Planning Plans.
