Renewable CyL: environmental sensitivity Red Natura

Environmental sensitivity to wind and solar energy production facilities in Red Natura 2000 sites (ZEC and SPA) in Castilla y León. Law 4/2015 of 24 March 2015 on the Natural Heritage of Castile and Leon establishes, with respect to the Natura 2000 Network, that the realisation of any activity, plan, programme or project that, without having a direct connection with the management of a site included in the Natura 2000 Network or is necessary for it, may significantly affect that area, either individually or in combination with others, it will be conditioned that it is assured that it will not cause damage to the integrity of that area. According to the classification of uses contained in the law, renewable energy production facilities have the consideration of evaluable activities, that is, prior to their approval or realisation must be subjected to specific analysis, and during this process must ensure that the activity does not affect the integrity of the network. To indicate that many of the Basic Plans for the Management and Conservation of Protected Areas Natura 2000 Network and the Basic Plans for the Management and Conservation of Values Natura 2000 Network point to renewable energy production facilities as a threat to the future of these sites. * The submission of this information does not replace the relevant environmental impact assessment procedures for projects or prejudge the results of the corresponding environmental impact statements, since they are offered only to facilitate an early assessment from the early stages of defining a potential renewable energy project on the condition to a specific space with high environmental sensitivity.
