Traffic accidents involving victims are those that occur, or have their origin on one of the roads or land covered by the legislation on traffic, motor vehicles and road safety and as a result of them one or more people are killed or injured.
A person who, as a result of the accident, dies on the spot or within thirty days is considered a fatal victim.
Serious injuries are persons injured in a traffic accident and whose condition requires hospitalisation for more than 24 hours.
Minor injuries are persons injured in a traffic accident to whom the definition of serious injury cannot be applied.
The above definitions are contained in the Order of the Ministry of Relations with the Courts and the Secretariat of the Government of 18 February 1993 amending the statistics on road accidents.
