Waste generation and recycling

Data on household and commercial waste generation and on the recycling of municipal solid waste, calculated under Local Agenda 21. Since 2008 these indicators are calculated using a methodology different from that used in previous years. In the first case, which provides kilograms per inhabitant per day, the methodology quantifies the weight of municipal waste, both domestic waste and those from institutional, commercial and services activities that are similar to the previous ones, collected by municipal services (it does not include assimilable urban waste collected by private means in the city). In the second, the following fractions of waste are considered to calculate the percentage of recycling: specific collection of bulky waste, containerised separate collection and door-to-door of paper-carton, glass, light and textile packaging, battery collection and waste collected from the green dots, both from the mobile green dot and from the Garbigunes.
